Michael Burns

  1. Kenny Fraiser, Nashville, 1974.      Robert Altman had 24 characters – in search of a series! (The crackerjack movie was like, say, three Sopranos seasons squeezed into one 160 minutes episode). And he devised his own wage-scales. Namws, like Lily Tomlin (even if it was her movie debut) got $1,000 a week. Lesser knowns, $750. Having starred in Altman’s That Day in the Park, Burns felt he deserved top whack as the assassin. Altman refused. “He left,” said Bob. “Got his hair cut and went back to West Virginia.” And never won another movie. Just 11 more TV roles until becoming a history professor  in Massachusetts.
