1. – Suzy Delair, Par la fenetre, France, 1947. For his ninth film in four years, realisateur Gilles Grangier wanted his second leading lady, MichÂle Philippe – “one of the best actresses of her time who died very young.” But his director pal, Henri-Georges Clouzot pleaded: “Take Suzy, or life at home will be impossible for me.” Vivacious MichÂle was given a smaller role while Clouzot’s lover terrorised everyone. “Suzy arrived for work,” recalled Grangier, “with one sole objective – to make trouble.”
