Pichel  acted in 75 films and directed 40 others, including The Bride Wore Boots, Mr Peapody and the Mermaid, Destination Moon, Martin Luther.Warner’s  $1.25m response to MGM’s Gone With The Wind opened on March 26, 1938 – the day I was born.
  2. Audrey Hepburn, The Unforgiven, 1959.      Millie never understood why she and not Audrey made The Diary of Anne Frank. But knew all about the reversed process… Fox first rewarded her for Diary with Wild in the Country with Elvis in 1960. And not hen lost interest. “I was skinny, I didn’t have any breasts. I was not their type. Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield and Sheree North were the big names at the studio. I was a pain in the neck to them – they wouldn’t loan me out to anyone.” So she wed scenarist Robert Thom, had two children, and the very best of times making two Westerns, The Shooting and Ride the Whirlwind, in two weeks in Utah. With friends like Jack Nicholson, “who still send me flowers every year on my birthday.”
