Paul Jerricho

  1. Tom Georgeson, Doctor Who #115: Logopolis, TV, 1981.      After 15 possibles for The Monitor, Aunty’s casting (or dart) board had just a quintet for the anonymous police inspector Alun Armstong, Georgeson, Paul Jerricho, Alec Sabin, John Savident, Michael Sheard. This as the episode that Brian Epstein would not let The Beatles appear in. But he OKed Top of the Pops footage of Ticket To Ride.
  2. Paul Shelley, Doctor Who #117: Four To Doomsday, TV, 1981.    Jerricho was not persuaded to play the Minister of Persuasion. Nor were Colin Baker, Michaels Cashman and Cochrane, Tom Chadbon, Jack Galloway, Martin Jarvis, Clive Merrison, Martin Potter, Malcolm Tierney and James Warwick. This was Doc5 Peter Davison’s second outing. “And I didn’t know what I was doing!”
  3. Michael Cochrane, Doctor Who #120: Black Orchid, TV, 1982.     Not a rehash of Sophia Loren’s 1958 Hollywood melo, but an adventure (with cricket!) in 1925 England for for Doc5 Peter Davison. In the baker’s dozen list for Lord Cranleigh were Jerricho, Cochrane, Nicholas Ball, Michael Cashman, Christopher Cazenove, Keith Drinkel, Peter Firth, Nigel Havers, Martin Potter, Jeff Rawle, Patrick Ryecart, James Warwick and Simon Williams, often a lord or knight.
  4. Keith Drinkel, Doctor Who # 122: Time Flight, TV, 1982.       As many as 25 casting (or dart) board regulars were up for any (or all!) of three characters in Doc4 Peter Davison’s tale about a missing Concorde. Jerricho, Dallas Adams, Sean Arnold, Colin Baker, Andrew Burt, Tom Chadbon, Michael Cochrane, Ian Collier, Forbes Collins, Eric Deacon, Jack Galloway, Richard Heffer, Ian McCulloch, Clive Merrison (BBC Radio’s Sherlock Holmes), Terry Molloy (aka Davros), Edward Peel, Martin Potter, Jeff Rawle, Carl Rigg, Patrick Ryecart, Malcolm Stoddard, Donald Sumpter, Robert Swann Malcolm Tierney, Stephen Yardley – they were all up for Flight Engineer Scobie…
  5. Michael Cashman, Doctor Who # 122: Time Flight, TV, 1982.      …and for First Officer Bilton
  6. Michael McDermott   Doctor Who # 122: Time Flight, TV, 1982.   … plus for  Sheard – which wasn’t even offered to another Whoverse favourite Michael… Sheard.
  7. Robert Ashby, Doctor Who #141: Timelash, TV, 1985.     Jerricho, Ashby, Philip Madoc and Carl Rigg were all in the mix for Borada, yet another despot ruler – during Doc6 Colin Baker’s visit to the planet Karfel. In 1983, Jerricho had been The Castellan in #123: Arc of Infinity, 1983, and #129: The Five Doctors.
  8. Tom Chadbon, Doctor Who #143: The Trial of a Time Lord, TV, 1986.      As the series was as much on trial as Doc6 Colin Baker in the season long investigation, 16 actors were flagpoled for MerdeenJerricho, Tom Adams, Keith Barron, Brian Blessed, Hywel Bennett, Andrew Burt, Kenneth Colley, Peter Gilmore, Michael Gothard, Gareth Hunt, Clive Merrison, Paul Shelley, Anthony Valentine, David Warner, James Warwick.
