Pete Postlethwaite

1. – Michael Caine, Little Voice, 1998. Destiny… Pete created Ray Say on the London stage and was due to be reunited with his co-star Jane Horrocks – particularly as he had also starred in the same director Mark Herman’s previous Brassed Off, 1996. Except, the mighty Steven Spielberg intervened. Pete went into The Lost World: Jurassic Park, 1997… just as Caine lost out to Sean Connery as The Avengers’ first (last!) big-screen villain. Choosing him for The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Amistad, Spielberg called Postlethwaite “the best actor in the world.” Pete joked: “I’m sure what Spielberg actually said was: The thing about Pete is that he thinks he’s the best actor in the world.”
