Rakhee

  1. Shabana Azmi, Suraag, India, 1982.  When Rakhee fell out, Azmi fell in – the first Hindi film shot completely in America: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco. All went well until director Jag Mundra had to shell out $400,000 to buy back his own movie from US Customs in a muddle  about shipping the negative back home for editing and dubbing.   “Tough days,”  said Mundra. “But Suraag helped me get my foot in the door.”  He made 31 films and TV episodes in Bolly and Hollywood where his daughter, Smriti Mundhra, is a producer of shorts, including the 2020 Oscar-nominated St Louis Superman.
