  2. Michael Gothard, Lifeforce, 1984.
  3. Nicholas Ball, Lifeforce, 1984.
  4. Terry Molloy, Doctor Who #137: Attack of the Cybermen, TV, 1985.      They’re back! (Yet again). And the (unpopular) Doc6 Colin Baker sets out to stop the Cybermen destroying Earth. (Again).   Bates was in the mix with Brian Blessed, Brian Glover, Edward Woodward for the cop Russell… won by Terry Molloy (the name of Brando’s character in On The Waterfront, 1953). Director Matthew Robinson wanted to reward Molloy with a human character – after his heavily made-up Davros in the previous #133: Resurrection of the Daleks, 1984. Despite 60 UK screen roles during 1965-1990, Bates, a Frankenstein and Dr Jekyll for Hammer and a great, great nephew of French scientist Louis Pasteur) managed to avoid The Doctor.
