Rodney Dangerfield

  1. Jackie Mason, Caddyshack II, 1988.     Rodney was not allowed to re-write his role from the first movie. Ex-rabbi Mason was not so fussy about the last of his nine movies since 1972.
  2. Albert Brooks The Scout, 1994.    Brooks rewrote the Andrew Bergman script   (also rejected by Peter Falk, Walter   Matthau). “It was supposed to end differently,” said Brooks. “But the studio made us put in a whole ball game. I cringed but I figured:   If that’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to me in this business, that’s pretty good.”     Dangerfield’s widow, Joan, became the guardian of his flame by keeping a bottle of his perspiration (!) in her fridge and a website about him.   Maybe now he’ll finally get a little respect.
