Sam Levene

1.  – Ward Bond, It’s A Wonderful Life, 1946.

2. – Frank Sinatra, Guys and Dolls, 1955. Not box-office. Director Joseph Mankiewicz wanted the Broadway cast  (with the exception of Sky Masterson), particularly Sam, the original Nathan Detroit.  With reason.  Sinatra and Brando were better suited to each other’s roles in producer Samuel Goldwyn’s final line-up.

3. – Walter Matthau, The Sunshine Boys 1975.
