Tatiana Maslany

  1. Felicity Jones, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,2015.    For the first time we hear how George Lucas wrote it in 1976:  “May the Force of others be with you.”  Also in the running for Jyn Erso,  new heroine of of Disney’s stand-alone Star Wars movies, were the Canadian Tatiana Maslany  and the Mara sisters  – Kate and Rooney.  Jones (who I’d listened to for years in the worlds longest running radio soap, The Archers, on BBC Radio 4, was born in1983, the year Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi  was released.
  2. Mary Elizabth Winstead, Gemini Man, 2018.    Sorry to say but The Girl  was the least important part of the exercise, what with Will Smith playing both lead roles – helped by  amazing youthifcation effects for his youngerf self.  Over the years from 1997, Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, Jon Voight, etc, had made de-aged tests; Harrison Ford always denied being contacted for the role(s).  Elizabeth Debicki was slso seen but MEW won Danny and the key line to Will’s enemy:  “I know why he’s as good as you.  He is you!”
