Having been the sidekick of Charles Starrett for eight chapters – fromThe Return of The Durango Kid, 1944, to Frontier Outlaw, 1945 – Harding was supplanted by Burnette for the next 64 ventures (invariably re-using old footage). Durango’s pardners lazily had the same name as their actors and Starrett retired after the finale, The Kid From Broken Gun, 1952, three years after Harding, who became a meat cutter at a Spokane County supermarket.
