1. – Charles   Laughton, Hobson’s Choice, 1954. The UK’s   #l radio star –   first   to read the BBC News in an regional accent –   the Yorkshireman wanted to film Harold Brighouse’s comedy.   His agent talked to two other clients, film-makers Frank Launder and Sidney Gilliat – keen but hold the Pickles!   Producer Alexander Korda bought the rights and passed the project to David Lean –   yet another   client   of the same agent Christopher Mann.
