William-“Stage” Boyd

  1. Edward Arnold, Okay America, 1931.   Change of racketeer Alsotto… Stage was an odd adjunct to Boyd’s credit, and obviously to differentiate between him and Hopalong Cassidy! And, indeed, it was so ordered by a US judge after newspapers used photos of the wrong Boyd when reporting Stage’s various arrests for his usual possession of drugs and booze. The cowboy lost a lucrative RKO deal because of such lazy journalism.
