Marie Osmond

  1. Olivia Newton-John, Grease,, 1977.      After passing up Carrie Fisher, Susan Dey and Deborah Raffin, director Randall Kleiser and his flamboyant producer, Allan Carr decided Marie was the one. She did not agree. Getting all all holier than thou about Sandy’s transformation from good to bad girl… if only in looks, make-up and (tight) costuming. Silly Marie. (Brother Donny had been in the Teen Angel mix).
  2. Elizabeth McGovern, Ordinary People, 1980.Novelist Judith Guest’s anatomy of a family more in pain than love  reminded Robert Redford of “the missed signals” of his own upbringing, – it became  his directing debut. Elizabeth McGovern almost refused  the role of Tim Hutton’s  girl  friend , in order to enlist at Juillatrd.  Singer Marie Osmond was first resrve until arrangements were, as they say, arranged.
