Taylor Swift

  1. Ellen Page, Inception, 2009.       After Evan Rachel Wood turned him down, UK director Christopher Nolan considered Swift, Emily Blunt,  Carey Mulligan, Emma Roberts and Jessy Schram before settling upon a fifth  Oscar nominee for his thriller  in… the architecture of the mind.
  2. Julianne Hough, Rock of Ages, 2011.      Swift was an early idea for Sherrie . The Utah blonde was better – and, doubtless, cheaper. It was her third movie after Burlesque and Footloose.   But all eyes were on Tom Cruise’s staggering rock star Stacee Jaxx – aka Jim Morrison meets Axel Rose, Alec Baldwin called it a horrible movie.  “I only did it to work with Tom.” Well, the audition worked. They stayed together for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, 2014.
  3. Samantha Barks, Les Misérables, 2012.      Many were called – Taylor, the Pennsylvania singer, Lucy Hale, Scarlett Johansson, Lea Michele, Hayden Panettiere, Emma Watson (also up for Cosette), Evan Rachel Wood – before producer Cameron Mackintosh went on the Manchester stage of her Oliver! Gig to announce Samantha had won the role of Eponine. “Most incredible moment of my life!!!!”
